Position Description:
Field Service Calibration Technician will be able to calibrate pipettes, as well as scales/balances, centrifuges, or various temperature devices. Training will be provided, and technicians are expected to learn the skills and processes necessary to perform calibration work within the lab environment
Responsibilities:
A Field Service Calibration Technician will be expected to perform the following:
- Will work with management and other technicians within the lab to learn pipette calibration fundamentals, working to produce calibrations using the systems and SOPs we have in place
- Learn fundamental calibration techniques and processes
- Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
- Develop skills necessary to produce calibrations at a specified rate
- Maintain calibration standards
- Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory setting and/or supervised customer on-site
- Will be required to perform on-site calibration, certification, and maintenance services on specific lab equipment at client/customer locations including interfacing with customers in person, via email, or phone
- Equipment includes pipettes, bottle top dispensers, scales, balances, centrifuges, and temperature calibrations
- Other duties as assigned
Travel: 50-75%
- Mixture of local day trips, overnights and out of state
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To be considered for pipette technician, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred:
- Ability to learn new skills regarding calibration and calibration processes
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required
- Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
- Familiarity with basic tools
- Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience:
This position does not require any formal education however a two-year college degree or equivalent military experience is preferred.
